This unit assesses client eligibility for a wide range of public assistance support services, as outlined below.
OWF (Ohio Works First) This program provides cash assistance to caregivers of those children who are deprived of parental support due to parental absence from the home, debilitating illness, or unemployment.
FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, formerly known as Food Stamps, increases the food purchasing power of low-income families, to help them maintain an adequate diet for good health and nutrition.
MEDICAID Medicaid provides health care coverage for eligible, low-income persons, as well as income eligible individuals over age 65 who are blind or disabled. In addition to Medicaid, Healthy Start is a preventative health care program available for eligible individuals under age 21, with emphasis on periodic examinations at ages 1, 4, 7, 11 and 16.
DISABILITY ASSISTANCE This program provides cash assistance to those who are ineligible for OWF benefits and who are unable to work because of a disability.
