Overview

The West Central Rehabilitation Facility was constructed in 1992 and opened, taking its first youth in September of 1993 as a Community Correctional Facility for male felons between the ages of 12 and 18. Although WCJRF can house up to 32 youth referred from the six counties in our immediate region inclusive of Auglaize, Darke, Mercer, Miami, Preble and Shelby County, youth may also be accepted from any other county in Ohio. WCJRF is operated under a renewable one-year grant from the Ohio Department of Youth Services.

West Central Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility is required to follow operational standards under Chapter 5139-36 of Ohio Revised Code. We are also required to follow Miami County personnel procedures. We have and continued to welcome both fiscal and operational audits. We aspire to obtain re-accreditation for the fourth time from the American Correctional Association (ACA) in 2019. The facility is in compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act which sets standards for youth protection against sexual abuse and sexual assault while in the program.
